Twitch, the live streaming giant revealed recently that it is changing its brand guidelines. These new guidelines have however, offended many content creators. Asmongold Ludwig Ninja and other content creators have all been vocal about the new guidelines. These changes were criticized by many content creators. MrBeast, one of YouTube’s most popular users, has announced that he may stream on Kick after this fiasco with the guidelines.
Sponsored streams are affected by the new guidelines. Twitch has tightened up its rules on how brand content is used on the platform. Sponsored streams are a major part of the income for content creators. These changes will affect any content creator who streams a game or promotes a product in a deal. It is therefore very justified for MrBeast to jump in.
MrBeast teases Kick streaming to protest Twitch’s brand content guidelines
MrBeast makes all of his content exclusively on YouTube and doesn’t live stream on any platform, be it Twitch or Kick. MrBeast, however, jumped in the debate shortly after Twitch announced their new guidelines and accused Twitch creators of being “handicaped”.
He said in a tweet that has since been deleted:
This is the funniest joke I’ve heard all year. I’m not a Twitch user and I want to stream for a competitor to spite them. If YouTube did this, I would lose my mind.”
MrBeast responded to the tweet and said he would stream on Kick to protest Twitch.
MrBeast streaming possible on Kick
Elon Musk and many other fans have expressed their views on Twitter about MrBeast’s protests against Twitch.
MrBeast streaming via Kick is good for Kick, but alarming for Twitch. Kick is a recent rival of Twitch. Twitch’s strict guidelines have caused many streamers to leave the platform in recent times. Twitch seems to be digging its own grave with this latest guideline controversy. Asmongold, Mizkif and other OTK members have all criticized Twitch. They have even threatened to leave Amazon’s platform.
Twitch apologized for the misinterpretation of their message by creators. They also said that they would rewrite and correct the text soon in order to make it clearer. Fans will have to wait and see if MrBeast streams on Kick.
