Novak Djokovic appeared a bit concerned about Rafael Nadal in his fourth round press conference at Roland Garros. Novak Djokovic understands that the recovery process after surgery can be difficult for athletes and felt empathy towards Rafael Nadal. Nadal underwent hip surgery the day before his birthday, on 3rd of June.
Djokovic said , “I had one elbow surgery in my career and I know how difficult it is to recover,” at the press conference. Novak Djokovic underwent surgery on an elbow injury five years ago. Djokovic, looking somberly at the camera, spoke about how surgery is a last option for athletes because it’s hard to recover from.
Nadal might find it more difficult as he’s had multiple injuries. “It is one of those things you would never want an athlete to experience. It’s sometimes necessary, I suppose. “It’s happened to him several times throughout his career,” said Djokovic.
Novak Djokovic sent Rafael Nadal a message of speedy recovery. He said that he wasn’t sure of the severity of the surgery Nadal underwent. However, he assumed that it was serious because Nadal couldn’t find any other option than to go under the knife. Djokovic stated, ” I hope his recovery process goes well, and that we will see him again next season.”
Djokovic concluded, “We are looking forward to seeing Rafa healthy, without a doubt, and playing the season he announced as his final. You know, I hope he can do it.
Novak Djokovic is eager to see Rafael Nadal return to the business
Djokovic always maintains that Nadal is his greatest rival. Rafa is the Serb’s main rival, even though he had many great matches with Roger Federer. He looked to the Spaniard as inspiration and motivation. Djokovic admitted a few days ago that he missed Nadal’s presence in tournaments.
He reiterated in the post-match press conference that he thought Rafael Nadal is the greatest tennis player. Rafael Nadal’s presence was also important to the sport. Djokovic said : “I believe that he is so important for our sport on and off court. He’s one of the greatest tennis legends in the history,” . Djokovic is looking forward to a final showdown with Rafael Nadal.
