Ravi Shastri, the former India head coach, has named a few players he believes can be drafted into the World Cup team immediately. They can also replace key injured players. Shastri thinks these Indians who have not been capped are mature enough for even a World Cup. Former cricketer Shastri believes these young uncapped Indians can duplicate their performance in the Indian Premier League.
Shastri selected Tilak Singh, Yashaswi jaiswal, Rinku Singh and Ruturaj gaikwad as well as Ruturaj Gaikwad for the team. Jitesh Sharma, Sai Sudarshan and the former India coach were also impressed. Shastri believed that India’s current bowling attack was potent and didn’t require any changes.
“I would choose Tilak Vama, (Yashasvi Jaiswal) and Rinku Singh.” They are the candidates that can push through along with Ruturaj Gairkwad, who has already played for India, and has been around a long time,” said Shastri while speaking on the newest episode of ‘The ICC Review.’ “One is (Yashasvi Jaiswal), simply because of his performance this season. Shastri said that Jaiswal’s performance this year is an improvement over what he showed last year.
“The other guy is Rinku Singh. It’s a wonderful story.” He has a great temperament, the more I watch him. He’s tough as nails. These two guys both have very difficult backgrounds. Initially, they have had to work very hard and nothing came easy. The former Indian allrounder said that you can clearly see the passion and drive needed to reach the top ,”.
Ravi Shastri feels like Tilak Vamsa is ready for the stage
Ravi Shastri said that Tilak Sharma and Jitesh Varma are ready to play on the big stage. They can be tested if they keep up their performance before the tournament.
“As far as batting goes, there’s Tilak Varma (274 runs in nine matches at an average of 45.66 with a fifty), there’s Jitesh Sharma (265 runs at an average of 22.08 and a strike rate of over 155) from Punjab (Kings) too who is a wicket-keeper-batter, who is pretty dangerous and has stood out,” Shastri noted.
“There is even Sai Sudharsan (who has caught the attention of many) a left-hander (223 runs in 6 matches at an average 44.60, with two fifties). These are the players who could push for selection depending on their performance closer to the World Cup. And depending on the injuries. Shastri stated that if there are any injuries to key players, these guys could be brought into the mix immediately.
