Adam Joel Anhang Uster was an ambitious entrepreneur and real estate developer whose life was brutally cut short in an act of brutal murder. Adam’s family’s struggle for justice as well as shocking details surrounding the crime have brought this case into public light.
On September 23, 2005, Anhang and Aurea Vasquez-Rijos had left Pink Skirt nightclub, located on Old San Juan streets, after going there together as they discussed their impending divorce proceedings and Anhang was brutally killed in what media called the Pink Skirt Murder.
Adam Anhang Murder Investigation Anhang’s murder was a complex case. Anhang died after being brutally stabbed and physically assaulted – drawing national headlines. Rijos, Anhang’s estranged spouse suffered similar but less serious injuries during this incident.
Rijos earned herself the moniker “Black Widow”, following media speculation of her involvement in Anhang’s murder and her ongoing divorce proceeding from Anhang; there had also been speculation as to possible financial motives; she fled Italy in order to avoid prosecution before being apprehended in 2015 and extradited back home to Puerto Rico.
At first, Jonathan Roman Rivera was accused of murdering Rijos but subsequent investigations by the FBI revealed otherwise and identified Alex Pabon Colon as being responsible. It had been contracted out for this task.
Adam Anhang belonged to an intimate family. Abraham and Barbara Anhang were devastated when Adam died suddenly on January 26th 1973 in Winnipeg. Their grief continues today over this loss for everyone involved.
Adam Anhang’s Family Relentlessly Search for Truth
Abraham Anhang did not permit their grief to prevent them from seeking justice, hiring an investigator in search of Rijos which led the Puerto Rico FBI reopening their case against her.
Rijos attempted to bypass justice through legal means but encountered many hurdles along her journey. Her sister Marcia Vazquez Rijos and former lover Jose Ferrer Sosa have all been charged with Anhang’s murder and sentenced accordingly.
Their dedication to justice ensured not only would their son’s legacy live on, but that those responsible were held to account. Their story illustrates how persevering even under seemingly insurmountable challenges can ultimately bring closure and results in closure for both victims and perpetrators alike.
