Royal Challengers Bangalore led by Faf du Plessis beat Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday. Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) were on the verge of a Playoff spot when they chased 186 down with eight wickets remaining. Kohli scored his sixth IPL hundred, while du Plessis’ captain scored a half century (71 from 47).
Kohli and du Plessis formed an opening partnership of 172 runs. Heinrich Klaasen had earlier scored a century on 51 balls (104), which helped his team reach a respectable total of 186/5. But Klaasen was not supported by the bowlers or the opposition as SRH lost.
It was still a record-breaking day as many records were broken and created. Virat Kohli is now the player who has the most centuries (6) ever in IPL. Klaasen becomes the fourth batter for SRH to score a century.
