Twitch Rolls Back Controversial Branded Content Guidelines After Facing Backlash

Twitch has released new Branded Content guidelines for streamers. The purple platform was criticized by fans and streamers for these guidelines. These guidelines were so restrictive that they would eventually result in thousands of streamers and charities losing their funding. It is unethical to control the Sponsorship system and advertising on stream. The internet was quick to point out Twitch’s mistake. Twitch reversed their decision to enforce Branded Content Guidelines not long after they were made public.

On the internet, there was a huge outrage against Twitch’s decision to censor branded content. Asmongold co-founder of OTK, for example, reacted with fierce opposition. Asmongold threatened to switch platforms and leave Twitch. MrBeast, a popular YouTuber who is not from Twitch, jumped at the chance to support streamers. He relayed the message that streamers should stream on Kick so he can criticize Twitch’s policies. Twitch has been rolling back the Branded Content Guidelines ever since.

Twitch reverses its stance on Branded Content

Twitch apologized on their official Twitter for the guidelines gone rogue. Amazon’s streaming platform has admitted to going too far with their policies. The company’s policy was to allow advertising logos on only 3% the screen. Twitch’s CEO Dan Clancy also commented on the matter, saying that the company had “messed up”, with its Branded Content Policy. Dan Clancy apologised for the change. He said, “We will continue operating as we always have.”

Twitch is a target of public opinion for quite some time. Its menacing decision to ban popular streamers from its platform. Twitch has been banning streaming from left to right. Twitch has broken the dam of tolerance with its new guidelines and is now drowning in the wrath and anger of famous streamers and internet celebrities. Kick is taking advantage of the Twitch chaos to strengthen their platform. BruceDropEmOff was recently signed by Kick with a multimillion dollar deal. Adin Ross had also moved from Kick.

Twitch would benefit greatly if it made a big leap in terms of supporting its users. It is also important to design a better split in order to maintain and grow the user base. The next step will be determined by Twitch. Keep an eye on the news for more details.
