Mike Spivey’s tireless determination earned him much praise during his three year run with the University of Colorado Buffaloes from 1973-1976. His unyielding dedication earned him widespread admiration from peers and observers.
Mike dedicated 14 years of his professional life to serving as coach with the University of Colorado Football Program and made significant contributions off of the football field as he served numerous young football players with life skills training beyond simply football playing alone. Mike’s philosophy went well beyond teaching life skills through play – it included developing character as well.
Mike Spivey was not only an amazing player but he also led an exceptional family life. Married to Debra Spivey and father to Nicole Drewiecki and Joshua Spivey. Mike dedicated all his spare time and devotion to raising both kids as much as he possibly could – Nicole being his daughter while Joshua his son.
Mike had interests that went far beyond football; he was an enthusiastic speaker who spread knowledge and experiences around the globe through lectures. One of his many passions was Scripture which he spoke passionately about with anyone he encountered through talks or casual interactions; his kindness and wisdom will forever remain part of our memories.
